Capturing the story of your life,

one chapter at a time.

Oh, hey there, and welcome to my new website!

I'm Ashley, but you can call me Ash. I am based in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) but I would never turn down the opportunity to travel! I'm a full-time nanny and I run my photography business on the weekends! Although I studied photography in college, it wasn't until I became a nanny that photography really became a passion. About 4 years ago, I started taking images of my nanny kids as a hobbyist photographer; After seeing how my images made an impact on their parents', I decided that I should see where this passion could take me.

On January 1, 2017, I opened my first photography business, "Ashley Diabo Photography". I spent months building a portfolio, and before I knew it, business was booming! For those of you who don't know me (personally), I have struggled with depression for several years. A few months after I started ADP, my depression hit an all-time low and I was in a really bad place. I could barely get out of bed. I remember thinking you have no reason to be so sad, business is good; you have a fiance who adores you; a family who loves you... so what else do you need? But unfortunately, depression doesn't come with a warning. I started cancelling sessions because I had no desire to move, no desire to live. Those cancellations led to lots of really disappointed people, and word traveled fast. I never told my clients why I canceled on them but I don't think it would have mattered anyway. I let my depression take over my life; my first brand; my love for photography. I closed up ADP November 1, 2017; just 10 months after being in business.

I spent months working on making myself a happier person; I went to therapy and over time, my depression settled. I decided that I wanted to give photography another shot; my best shot... But I started to think that there was no way I would be able to bounce back from this setback. Lucky for me, I have an amazing support system that wouldn't let me give up. I worked (tirelessly) on how to better my business; I signed up for workshops, online classes, and asked my fellow photographers for advice. I decided to re-brand.

On January 1, 2018, I launched my greatest achievement, "Sea You Smile Photography", in memory of my father (who passed away in 2015). Here I am, 2 years later; living out a dream that I never thought was possible! I'm still working towards my ultimate dream of being a full-time photographer, with my own studio; one day at a time.

My goal is to provide an experience that makes you feel comfortable and valued; without judgement! I want to get to know you, your family, your partner; and tell your story because I know it's a beautiful one.

“The comeback is greater than the setback.”
